PTE Academic UKVI and the SELT rule

The table has a SELT column. "Pearson: PTE Academic UKVI" is marked as a SELT, and "Pearson's Test of English (PTE) Academic (in-centre test only)" is marked as not a SELT, so the online test is not on the list. Stirling says that as a UKVI-approved sponsor it can make its own assessment for degree-level study and accepts these tests if taken within two years of your course start date.

The exception is applicants from Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka: the University only accepts a SELT from them, which for PTE means PTE Academic UKVI. The page gives no Pearson institution code.

If your PTE score falls short

Stirling's pre-sessional English courses are delivered on campus by the University of Stirling International Study Centre for applicants who do not meet the English entry requirement.

For a Student visa, gov.uk asks for English at CEFR B2 for study at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself and may ask for a different test (gov.uk).

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Stirling programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
