If your TOEFL score is below UVM's level

Undergraduates who score between 80 and 89, or 4.5 on the new test, are admitted but automatically enrolled in an ESOL course in their first semester. The Graduate College says applicants who do not meet its minimum are not eligible for direct entry admission, and points to its FAQ for waivers.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UVM programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
