What PTE score do you need for the University of Waikato?

A footnote in the undergraduate document says PTE Academic online is not accepted, and the teaching requirement specifies a computer-based PTE Academic. Both documents say all test results are valid for two years from the test date to your proposed start date, and the requirement must be met in one sitting or on one certificate unless stated otherwise.

Pearson's own PTE Core FAQ describes PTE Core as a general English test that is initially suitable only for work and migration routes to Canada, and says PTE Academic is the test accepted for university study.

For comparison, the same pages set IELTS Academic at 6.0 with no band below 5.5 for undergraduate study and 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for postgraduate study. The LLB asks IELTS 6.5 (6.0) and teaching asks 7.0 in every band.

Waikato's Certificate of Attainment in Academic English meets the requirement at a B grade or better at Level 7 for undergraduate study and Level 8 for postgraduate study. The University of Waikato Foundation Studies certificate (CAFS) is another route into bachelor's degrees.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Waikato programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
