What Duolingo score do you need for UT Dallas?

For undergraduates, official scores must come directly from the testing agency and be less than two years old at admission, and UT Dallas says a minimum score is required.

Graduate applicants upload a copy of the original score report in the Applicant Portal; the test date must be less than two years old at admission. If admitted, official scores must come directly from the testing agency before you enrol in class, and Duolingo scores are submitted electronically. You are exempt if your degree was taught and examined in English or your country's primary language is English.

For comparison, both undergraduate and graduate pages set IELTS Academic at 6.5, PTE Academic at 67 and TOEFL iBT at 80, or 4 for tests after 26 January 2026.

Both pages accept completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language Center instead of a test; the certificate is mailed directly by the ELS centre. Undergraduates can also meet the requirement through listed coursework routes, such as ENGL 1301 and 1302 with a B or better alongside a Texas associate degree or 42 transferable US credit hours.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UT Dallas programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
