Warwick's Duolingo rules

Both pages accept only Duolingo tests that give individual Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening scores. For undergraduates, Duolingo is acceptable when taken on or after 1 September 2024 for September 2026 entry only, and if you have taken more than one English test Warwick can only use the most recent.

Postgraduate applicants must share Duolingo results directly with the Postgraduate Admissions Service through their Duolingo dashboard. Uploading a PDF or screenshot to the Applicant Portal is not accepted. Some departments set their own requirements on the course page.

For comparison, Warwick's undergraduate page sets IELTS Academic Band A at 6.0 with 5.5 in each component, and the postgraduate page sets IELTS Band A at 6.5 with none below 6.0.

If you fall short of your band

Undergraduates who do not fully meet the requirement may still be offered a place on condition of meeting the entry requirements for Warwick's Pre-sessional English course and completing it successfully. The postgraduate page also points to the Pre-sessional English route for meeting an English condition.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Warwick programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
