Test rules and IELTS comparison
Non-native English speakers must submit official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo scores for graduate study, and the page links a route to send official Duolingo scores to WPI. Applicants who completed two years (four semesters) at an English-medium institution can ask for a waiver by emailing grad@wpi.edu.
IELTS comparison: the graduate page asks for IELTS 6.5 for most programmes and 7 for Business masters; the undergraduate page recommends 7.0 with no band below 6.5.

If your score is lower
WPI's FAQ says graduate applicants below the minimums are not automatically disqualified, but the low scores count against the application, and it suggests retaking the test. Neither page offers a conditional Duolingo range.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your WPI programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
