What TOEFL score do you need for Yeshiva University?

Undergraduate scores must be sent to YU directly from the testing service. For the Katz School, tests must be taken no more than two years before you apply, scores must be sent electronically by the testing agency before enrolment, and TOEFL home tests are not accepted. Katz's TOEFL code is 2990.

TOEFL iBT score reports issued since January 2026 also carry a 1 to 6 band score alongside the 0 to 120 total; see our guide to the new TOEFL score scale. Where a page above gives only a 0 to 120 figure, that is the figure this guide reports.

For comparison, YU asks undergraduates for IELTS 7, and the Katz School asks for IELTS Academic 6.5 with no section below 6.0.

Undergraduates whose primary language of instruction has been English do not need a test. Katz applicants with a bachelor's degree or higher from a US university, or from a listed English-speaking country, are exempt. The Katz School also runs an online intensive English programme.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your YU programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
