Band 8 model answer

Band 8244 words, about two minutes at a natural pace. Details are invented; use your own.

To be honest, I've always been drawn to water sports, but one open-air activity I'd genuinely love to have a crack at is sea kayaking. I've done a bit of gentle canoeing on flat rivers before, but paddling out on the open sea sounds like a whole different ball game.

Ideally, I'd head up to the west coast of Scotland, around the Isle of Skye, or perhaps the rugged coastline of Pembrokeshire. Both areas are famous for their dramatic sea caves, hidden coves, and towering cliffs that you simply cannot reach on foot. Exploring those secluded spots from the water level would be an incredible adventure.

As for preparation, I wouldn't just plunge straight into the deep end. I'd need to hire proper gear, including a sturdy ocean kayak, a paddle, a buoyancy aid, and a reliable wetsuit because the water around Britain is notoriously freezing. More importantly, I'd book a guided excursion with a qualified instructor, because navigating ocean currents and tidal patterns requires serious know-how.

The main reason I'm so keen on trying this is that it offers the perfect balance between an adrenaline rush and total tranquillity. Nowadays, I spend far too much time cooped up indoors staring at screens, so being out on the water, surrounded by wildlife like seals or seabirds, would be a fantastic way to recharge my batteries. It's definitely a bit outside my comfort zone, but that's precisely why I want to give it a go.
