1

Do you usually wear a watch?

Yes, I wear one every day, actually. It is just a simple analogue watch with a leather strap that I put on before leaving the flat. I find glancing at my wrist much quicker than pulling my mobile phone out of my pocket, especially when I am rushing to work.

2

Do you have any clocks in your home?

We have got a couple, to be honest. There is a big wooden wall clock in our kitchen and a small digital alarm clock on my bedside table. Even though we are surrounded by screens, I still like having a proper timepiece on the wall to glance at during breakfast.

3

Did you learn to tell the time at an early age?

I think so, yes. My primary school teacher used a colourful cardboard clock with movable hands to teach us when I was about six. I remember feeling really proud when I finally worked out how the minute and hour hands worked together.

4

Do you prefer using a digital clock or a traditional one?

I suppose I lean towards traditional clocks with hands, mainly for aesthetic reasons. Digital displays are obviously easier to read in a hurry, but a classic clock on the mantelpiece gives a room much more character and warmth.

5

Have you ever received a clock or watch as a gift?

Yes, I have. For my eighteenth birthday, my grandparents gave me a lovely silver wristwatch. It came in a velvet box and had a short message engraved on the back, so it holds a lot of sentimental value for me.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
