1

What kind of front door does your home have?

We've got a heavy wooden door painted navy blue. It's quite traditional, with a brass letterbox and a peephole in the middle. It gives the flat a really sturdy, secure feel, which I appreciate living on a busy street.

2

Do you prefer wooden doors or modern glass ones?

I'd definitely go for timber. Glass doors look sleek and let in plenty of natural light, but they don't offer much privacy. With a solid oak door, you feel completely cut off from the outside world once you shut it.

3

How important is the colour of a front door to you?

To be honest, it's fairly important because it sets the tone for the whole house. A cheerful colour like bright yellow or sage green can make an entrance feel much more welcoming, whereas plain dark grey can look a bit dull.

4

Did you ever lock yourself out of your house when you were younger?

Yes, once or twice! I remember rushing off to school and forgetting my keys on the kitchen counter. I had to sit on the garden wall for nearly two hours until my mum came home from work to let me in.

5

In the future, would you like to have smart locks on your doors?

I'm a bit torn, actually. It'd be super handy to unlock the door with my mobile phone or a fingerprint, especially when I'm carrying heavy shopping bags. But I'd always worry about the battery dying or the system glitching.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
