1

Do people in your country often listen to folk songs?

Yes, particularly the older generation. You often hear them played at community festivals and wedding celebrations. My grandparents, for instance, still tune into a local radio programme every Sunday afternoon that broadcasts classic regional ballads.

2

Did you learn any traditional songs when you were a child?

I did, actually. In primary school, our music teacher made us sing old harvest tunes and storytelling songs every week. I still remember the chorus of a sailor's ballad we used to practise before the end-of-term concert.

3

What kind of folk music do you prefer?

I'm quite fond of acoustic folk that features instruments like the fiddle and acoustic guitar. There's an upbeat, lively tempo to it that really lifts my mood, especially when I'm walking to work in the morning.

4

Is folk music popular among young people today?

To be honest, not really. Most youngsters my age prefer pop or hip-hop, so traditional tunes are seen as a bit old-fashioned. However, some indie bands mix folk elements with modern beats, which has sparked a bit of renewed interest.

5

Would you like to learn to sing or play a traditional folk song?

Definitely. I've always fancied learning the acoustic guitar, and mastering a few traditional folk melodies would be brilliant. It feels like a lovely way to keep cultural heritage alive while picking up a creative hobby.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
