1

Do you often stay in hotels?

Not especially often, no. I probably only stay in one two or three times a year, usually when I'm away on holiday or attending a friend's wedding in another city. Last autumn, for instance, I booked a lovely bed and breakfast in the Lake District for a long weekend.

2

What do you usually look for when choosing a hotel?

For me, cleanliness and location are the absolute priorities. I don't really care about fancy perks like an on-site spa, but I need a quiet room near public transport links. A decent breakfast included in the room rate is always a massive bonus, too.

3

Do you prefer staying in hotels or other types of accommodation?

It really depends on the trip, to be honest. If it's a short city break, I'd rather stay in a hotel because of the convenience and daily housekeeping. But for longer holidays with friends, renting a self-catering cottage gives us far more freedom and living space.

4

Did your family stay in hotels when you were a child?

Hardly ever, actually. My parents were quite budget-conscious, so we usually went camping or stayed in holiday chalets along the coast. I remember staying in my very first proper hotel when I was twelve, and being completely fascinated by the keycard and the buffet breakfast.

5

Would you like to work in a hotel in the future?

I don't think it would suit me, to be fair. The hospitality sector seems quite demanding, with long hours and shift work over weekends and bank holidays. I much prefer having a predictable routine, although managing a boutique guest house later in life might be charming.
