1

Do you have many lamps in your home?

Yes, quite a few actually. I'm really keen on soft lighting, so in my living room alone we have a couple of floor lamps and a small ceramic one on the sideboard. It makes the flat feel much cosier than using the main ceiling light.

2

What kind of lamps do you prefer?

I tend to go for minimalist designs with warm bulbs. I really dislike harsh, white fluorescent lights because they give me headaches. I prefer dimmable bedside lamps made from natural materials like wood or frosted glass, as they create a really calming ambience in the evening.

3

How often do you use a desk lamp?

Almost every evening, to be honest. Whenever I'm working on my laptop or reading a novel, I switch on an adjustable task lamp on my study table. It gives focused light right where I need it, which stops my eyes from getting strained.

4

Did you have a favourite lamp when you were a child?

I did, actually. I had this quirky little nightlight shaped like a mushroom that projected stars onto the ceiling. I was quite scared of the dark back then, so having that gentle glow next to my bed helped me drift off to sleep.

5

Would you ever buy a lamp as a gift for someone?

I think I would, but probably only for a close friend moving into a new flat. Lighting depends a lot on personal taste, so I'd pick something fairly versatile, like a stylish vintage lantern or a portable reading light that fits any decor.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
