1

Have you ever given a presentation before?

Yes, quite a few times actually. The most recent one was last term at university, where my group had to deliver a talk on renewable energy. We used visual slides and spoke for about fifteen minutes, which was slightly stressful but went pretty smoothly in the end.

2

How do you feel when you have to speak in front of people?

To be honest, I usually get butterflies in my stomach right before I start. Once I get into my stride, though, I tend to relax. I find that taking a deep breath and making eye contact with a friendly face in the audience helps calm my nerves.

3

What makes a good presentation, in your opinion?

I'd say clarity is key. A good speaker keeps things engaging rather than just reading off slides full of tiny text. If someone uses relatable examples and speaks with genuine enthusiasm, it's so much easier to stay focused on what they're saying.

4

Did you have to give presentations when you were at school?

Not very often, to be fair. We occasionally did show-and-tell sessions in primary school, and later on, maybe one or two group projects in secondary school. Back then, it felt terrifying because we rarely got any formal guidance on public speaking.

5

Would you like to improve your presentation skills in the future?

Definitely. I think being able to pitch ideas clearly is a vital skill for my future career. I'd love to work on my body language and voice projection, so that I come across as more persuasive and self-assured when addressing a large crowd.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
