1

Do you ever buy second-hand items?

Yes, quite regularly, to be honest. I'm a massive fan of pre-loved books and vintage jackets. Just last month, I picked up a classic leather coat from a flea market near my flat for a fraction of the original price, and it's in mint condition.

2

What kind of things would you prefer to buy brand new?

Definitely electronics and personal gadgets, like my mobile phone or laptop. With tech, you never really know how well the previous owner looked after the battery or internal parts, so I’d rather have a full warranty and complete peace of mind.

3

Have you ever sold anything second-hand?

Yes, I have. A couple of years ago, when I was having a clear-out before moving house, I put my old acoustic guitar on a local classifieds website. A student bought it within a few days, which was brilliant because it saved it from gathering dust.

4

Are charity shops or second-hand markets popular in your country?

They're certainly becoming more mainstream, especially among younger people who want to shop sustainably and save money. In larger cities, you'll see bustling weekend markets and second-hand clothes shops that are packed with students hunting for quirky, one-off fashion pieces.

5

Do you think you will buy more pre-owned goods in the future?

I reckon I will, especially for furniture and home décor. Furnishing a place from scratch can be ridiculously expensive, whereas upcycling pre-owned wooden tables or chairs gives a room a lot of character without breaking the bank.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
