1

Do you often use a webcam?

Yes, pretty much every day, actually. I work remotely a couple of days a week, so I rely on it heavily for morning team catch-ups. Outside of work, I also hop on video calls at the weekend to chat with my sister who lives in Bristol.

2

Do you prefer using a built-in camera or a separate one?

I usually stick with the built-in one on my laptop simply because it's convenient. I don't really need studio-quality video for basic catch-ups, though my flatmate bought a fancy clip-on one because he delivers a lot of online training sessions.

3

Do you like having your camera turned on during calls?

To be honest, it depends on who I'm talking to. If it's a small group of close colleagues, I don't mind it at all, but in massive meetings I'd rather keep it switched off so I don't feel too self-conscious.

4

Did you use webcams much when you were younger?

Not really, no. When I was growing up, video calling was quite glitchy and very few people had high-speed internet at home. Back then, we mostly just sent instant messages or made standard phone calls to relatives.

5

Do you think people will use webcams even more in the future?

I suppose so, especially as remote working and online courses seem to be sticking around. Even routine medical consultations are moving online these days, so having a decent camera is rapidly becoming an everyday essential.

Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
