Weekends: questions and Band 8 answers
The examiner asks three to five short questions on two or three everyday topics in the first four to five minutes. These are the 4 questions about weekends in the BandLadder test bank, with sample answers for the most frequent ones. Aim for two or three sentences each: answer, reason, one detail.
Sample answers
How do you usually spend your weekends?
I generally dedicate my Saturdays to catching up on domestic chores and grocery shopping, while Sundays are strictly reserved for downtime. I often head to a local park with a good book or meet up with friends for a long brunch to unwind after the working week.
Which is your favourite part of the weekend?
Saturday morning is definitely the highlight for me because there is no pressure to rush anywhere. I love lingering over a fresh coffee and slowly planning my day, as it feels like the ultimate luxury after a hectic Friday at the office.
Do you think your weekends are long enough?
Honestly, they often feel far too brief to fully recharge my batteries. By the time I have managed to clear my to-do list and finally start relaxing, it is already Sunday evening and the looming start of the work week interrupts my flow.
How important do you think it is to have free time at the weekends?
It is absolutely vital for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and preventing burnout. Taking time away from professional responsibilities allows my mind to reset, which ultimately makes me much more productive and focused when I return to my tasks on Monday morning.
Details are invented. Use the shape, not the sentences: examiners mark memorised answers down.
