PTE in Mozambique — the fee, the Maputo test centre and the scores your route needs

Pearson's price finder lists one test centre in Mozambique, Empire Cybersecurity in Maputo (checked 11 October 2026). Across the region it is one of the higher PTE fees: South Africa is ZAR 5,800 and Malawi USD 255.

Australia's thresholds are per skill for tests from 7 August 2025: Competent 47 listening, 48 reading, 51 writing, 54 speaking; Proficient 58 / 59 / 69 / 76 for 10 points; Superior 69 / 70 / 85 / 88 for 20. Canada does not accept PTE Academic for Express Entry: PTE Core CLB 7 is listening 60, reading 60, writing 69, speaking 68. UK visas need 59 in each skill for B2.

UCT's results must be no more than two years old, and these are the minimums for consideration; faculties can set higher. Wits lists IELTS 6.5 or Cambridge C1 Advanced 185 for admission, and TOEFL only in exceptional cases; PTE is not on its list. Melbourne gives every course an English level on its course page; Level 1 is the lowest in its table.

For a UK visa that needs a SELT, PTE Academic UKVI is the option in Mozambique. Otherwise compare USD 310 with MZN 25,200 for IELTS on the day you book. For South African universities, IELTS is safer because Wits does not list PTE.
