Pearson opened its first Pakistani PTE Academic centre in Islamabad in 2021 and launched PTE Academic UKVI in Lahore and Islamabad the same year. Local providers also list Karachi. Pearson publishes fees only through its price finder by centre; third-party listings quote roughly USD 230 to 240, so check the official price for your centre when you book.

Australia's thresholds are per skill for tests taken on or after 7 August 2025: Competent 47 listening, 48 reading, 51 writing, 54 speaking; Proficient 58 / 59 / 69 / 76 for 10 points; Superior 69 / 70 / 85 / 88 for 20 points. Canada does not accept PTE Academic for Express Entry: PTE Core CLB 7 is listening 60, reading 60, writing 69, speaking 68.
PTE or IELTS?
Both tests are accepted for the UK and Australia and give identical visa outcomes. PTE's speaking is scored by software, which favours clear, steady delivery over conversation; IELTS has an examiner. IELTS in Pakistan costs PKR 75,600 to 78,820 with results in one to five days; PTE results arrive in about two days. The practical test is a scored mock of each.
