PTE Academic is accepted for the Irish master's examples below, but there is no single university admission score for Ireland. Your named course, each skill minimum and the age of your result matter. The English requirement for a study visa is a separate check.

Official sources checked: 30 September 2026. This is a starting list of five courses at three universities, not a ranking or a guarantee of admission. Some sources still display the September 2026 intake. Where a later intake is not confirmed, the entry says so; do not assume a closed application round has reopened.

Five master's courses: PTE scores and what to verify

All PTE targets here refer to PTE Academic. Do not substitute PTE Core because both use the PTE name. Use the official course and English-policy links together, then confirm any conditions in your offer.

1. Trinity College Dublin — Computer Science: Data Science

  • Course: M.Sc./P.Grad.Dip in Computer Science — Data Science; this entry concerns the one-year full-time master's route.
  • PTE Academic: 69 overall, with at least 59 in every section.
  • Evidence: the course page specifies Band B. The School's application requirements give the Band B PTE scores.
  • Intake check: the course page inspected lists September 2026 and a 30 January 2026 closing date. A subsequent intake or deadline was not confirmed from that page.

It also says applications missing an English certificate can be rejected or delayed. Check document readiness before assuming you can submit the result later.

2. Trinity College Dublin — Digital Marketing Strategy

  • Course: M.Sc. in Digital Marketing Strategy, one year full-time.
  • PTE Academic: 75 overall, with at least 69 in every section.
  • Evidence: the course page specifies Band C, rather than Band B. Trinity's English language policy, final bands table, supplies the PTE requirement.
  • Intake check: the inspected page lists September 2026 with a 31 July 2026 deadline. Confirm the next application round with the programme.

This is why copying Trinity's standard minimum into every course row would set some learners the wrong target.

3. University College Dublin — Computer Science: Negotiated Learning

  • Course: MSc Computer Science (Negotiated Learning), full-time route T150.
  • English evidence: the course page states IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or equivalent. UCD's standard English requirements list PTE Academic 63 overall and at least 59 in each communicative skill.
  • Intake check: the published application listing shows September 2027, opening 1 October 2026. Confirm the correct application route for your applicant category.

The PTE figure comes from UCD's standard policy; the course itself uses “or equivalent.” Check any additional course or offer conditions. The course distinguishes full-time international eligibility from its part-time route.

4. University College Dublin — Computer Science: Conversion

  • Course: MSc Computer Science (Conversion), full-time route T195.
  • English evidence: the course page states IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or equivalent. The same UCD standard policy lists PTE Academic 63 overall and at least 59 in each communicative skill.
  • Intake check: the page lists September 2027 with applications opening 1 October 2026. Recheck your application category and the live portal.

This course targets applicants from a discipline other than Computer Science. Meeting its English requirement alone does not establish that your academic background meets its entry requirements.

5. University College Cork — Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

  • Course: MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, one year full-time.
  • PTE: the standard postgraduate requirement is 63 overall with no section below 59. Confirm the accepted Academic test format when booking.
  • Evidence: the course page directs applicants to UCC's postgraduate English requirements, which publish the standard and higher-course exceptions. Data Science is not named among the higher-score exceptions on the checked page.
  • Intake check: the course page now lists a 6 September 2027 start. Its non-EU deadline is when places fill or no later than 15 June; confirm the year and your application category in the live portal. The page says the portal usually opens around mid-October, which is not confirmation that this course is accepting applications today.

UCC prioritises international applicants who supply all required documents with their application. Confirm when your English certificate is required; its English-policy page measures the two-year test limit before course commencement.

Ireland study visa English requirements are separate

The Irish Immigration Service's English requirements for study visas lists PTE Academic 30 in its “all other courses” category and explains that colleges may require a different standard. It also requires the English certificate to have been issued within two years of the expected course start.

PTE 30 is not an admission target for the five master's examples above. Nor does a course offer by itself establish that all visa conditions are met. Check your own visa requirement and current application guidance separately; this page only helps you plan English-test preparation.

Try it: is the overall score enough?

Original fictional example: a course offer requires PTE Academic 63 overall and at least 59 in each communicative skill. A learner reports overall 66, Listening 65, Reading 64, Writing 58 and Speaking 70. They believe the overall result is enough. What should they check next?

Reveal the answer and practice priority

Writing is one point below the stated minimum. The overall result and the other three skills meet the example's numbers, but Writing does not. The learner should verify the offer conditions and focus the next diagnostic on Writing. Meeting this fictional score condition would still not guarantee admission or a visa.

A five-minute check before paying for a test

  1. Save the exact course name, intake and application category. A university-wide list is only a starting point.
  2. Record the accepted test version, overall score and all four skill minimums from the course and official policy.
  3. Check result age and the date it is measured against. UCD also states that the required overall and component scores must come from one sitting.
  4. If you seek an English-medium education exemption, ask the institution to confirm the evidence and decision in writing. Do not treat it as an automatic visa exemption.
  5. Confirm when the certificate is required and allow time for preparation, results and a possible retest before that deadline.

If official pages disagree, send admissions the two links and ask which applies to your course and intake. Do not resolve a conflict by choosing the lower score. This guide focuses on PTE; IELTS and other alternatives require their own course-level check.

Prepare for your course's actual target

Begin with a task you can inspect: the Retell Lecture audio practice or PTE essay examples. Note one weakness, practise it and attempt a fresh question. Keep working across task types; one exercise cannot establish a full official skill score.
