Dolphins frequently monitor the echolocation streams produced by conspecifics to locate prey without their own acoustic energy. This opportunistic listening allows individuals to patch quality before investing effort in foraging. Marine biologists suggest that such passive acoustic interception enhances group efficiency, turning individual sensory searches into a hunting advantage that benefits the entire pod.

Tips

How to answer Reading: Fill in the Blanks

  1. 1

Skim the short text first so you know what it is about.

  2. 2

For each gap, decide the word class the grammar needs before you look at the box.

  3. 3

Fill the gaps you are sure of first; the box gets smaller and the hard gaps get easier.

  4. 4

Watch for distractors: words on the same topic that do not fit the sentence's grammar or logic.

  5. 5

Read the finished text once more. Every sentence must make sense on its own.
