What IELTS score does Bishop's University require?

Bishop's exempts by language of instruction, not by country. You do not need a test if you completed at least three years at an accredited secondary school recognised by Bishop's where English or French is the primary language of instruction, or at least 30 credit hours (one full year) at a recognised English- or French-medium post-secondary institution. Ask Admissions whether your Indian English-medium school or college counts before skipping the test. The MSc in Computer Science exempts one year at an English-language university.

Below the scores, Bishop's offers a conditional letter of admission once you are enrolled in a University or Academic Pathway at a partner school: Brescia University College's Preliminary Year Program, East Coast Language College, Lambton College, Universitas Language Centre Montreal, Halifax Language Institute of Canada or ILSC (pathway page). It does not issue the conditional letter before you enrol with the partner. A score validity period for IELTS, and a position on IELTS One Skill Retake, are not stated by Bishop's.

Bishop's's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
