What IELTS score does Brandon University require?

Brandon lists 12 ways to meet the requirement. They include a three-year secondary program at a school where English is the language of instruction, three consecutive years of full-time English-medium post-secondary study with a CGPA of 2.0, an English-medium undergraduate degree with a CGPA of 2.00, and an English-medium graduate degree of at least two years. The page sets no country list for these routes.

If you need to send proof of English, Brandon's Admissions Office emails you. Examination results must be no more than two years old at the time of submission. Brandon's own EAP program is not accepting applications for Fall 2027 or Winter 2028.

The Bachelor of Nursing admission page lists an IELTS assessment "if applicable" among the criteria for Year 2 of the program; nursing band minimums are not stated on that page, so ask the Faculty of Health Studies for the current scores before booking.

Brandon's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks for CLB 7 in all four skills if you graduate with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree, and CLB 7 too if you graduate from "any other university program", which must also be in an eligible field of study if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024. The lower CLB 5 applies only to college, polytechnic and other non-university programs. On IELTS General Training, CLB 7 is 6.0 in each skill (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic (see IELTS for the PGWP).
