Pay in the test country's currency
Pearson's booking help says you should pay in the currency of the country where you intend to take the test; its example is a candidate in India booking a test in Australia, who pays in Australian dollars. If you pay in the wrong currency, the registration is not processed and the payment is rejected or returned.
Fees differ by country. See our PTE exam fee guide for prices by country.
ID when you test outside your country
From Pearson's ID policy. The passport must be valid, the original physical document and issued no more than 10 years ago. If it is held for a visa application, you must request it back for test day.
| Test | ID outside your country of citizenship |
|---|---|
| PTE Academic | Valid passport only |
| PTE Core | Passport (accepted anywhere); a Canadian Permanent Resident Card is accepted in Canada only |
| PTE Academic UKVI and PTE Home | Passport anywhere; some alternatives such as a UK BRP or BRC, a convention travel document or a stateless persons travel document |

Account details: citizenship and residence
When you create your myPTE account, country of citizenship is the country printed on your passport and country of residence is where you live now; they can differ (account rules).
For PTE Home, Pearson says you can take it at any test centre in the world that offers it, and if you test outside your home country you will probably be asked for your passport (PTE Home FAQ).
Pearson updates its policies from time to time. Check the linked page before you act. This guide is general information, not official PTE advice.
