Booking step by step
From Pearson's how to book guide and help centre.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1. Choose the test | Answer where you want to go and what you want to do; Pearson recommends a test (PTE Academic, Academic UKVI, Core or Home) |
| 2. Find a centre and slot | Enter a location, choose a centre and a date and time at least 24 hours away |
| 3. Create a myPTE account | Details must exactly match your passport, with middle names in Given names; one account per person |
| 4. Answer booking questions | Agree to the admission, reschedule and cancellation policies |
| 5. Pay | Enter any voucher or promo code, review and submit |
| 6. Confirmation | Your booking appears in myPTE and by email; check spam if nothing arrives within two working days |
Paying for PTE
Pearson's help centre lists Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus WeChat Pay and Alipay in China and PayU in India; PayPal is not accepted. Pay in the currency of the country where you will take the test, or the payment is rejected. A card in someone else's name is allowed if the billing details match the cardholder (help centre).
Vouchers can pay the test fee but not a rescheduling fee, and cannot be used after expiry. Pearson warns against unauthorised agents offering cheap tests: fraudulent payments can get your test cancelled and results revoked.
Fees by country: PTE exam fee 2026.

Rules to know before you book
Book up to six months in advance, one test at a time, and your next test only after your last score is out (retake policy).
Under 18: a parent or guardian must give consent during booking; once approved it covers all your tests until you turn 18 (Test Taker Handbook).
Special accommodations must be requested before booking, about six weeks ahead; see PTE accommodations. Check the ID policy first; see PTE ID requirements.
Fixing details and changing dates
If your registered name differs from your ID, or is too long for the form, send the Customer Support form at least three working days before the test (help centre).
You can reschedule in myPTE if more than 14 days remain before the test; the option disappears within 14 days or after six reschedules. Fees and refunds are in PTE reschedule, cancel and refund rules.
Pearson updates its policies from time to time. Check the linked policy page before you act. This guide is general information, not official PTE advice.
