Can I change my name or date of birth on my PTE account?

Your name, yes, online until 24 hours before your test; your date of birth, no. Pearson's account help says you can edit personal information except date of birth in myPTE, and nothing can change from 24 hours before the test until your results arrive. For a date of birth fix, or most changes after a test, use the Customer Support form.

Make it match your passport

Your account details must exactly match your valid passport. If they do not, you will not be allowed to take the test and will not get a refund (account rules).

If your ID has only one name, enter it in Given name(s) and a full stop in Surname. If your name is too long for the form, enter as much as fits, then submit the Customer Support form ('An issue with my account', then 'Update or change my personal details') at least three working days before the test. Do the same if your ID shows a different name from the one you registered (booking help).

What you cannot change

Pearson's malpractice policy says test registrations are not transferable, and the only allowed changes to personal details are corrections of details captured incorrectly at registration. You cannot use a change of details to hand a booking to someone else.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change my date of birth on myPTE?+

You cannot edit it yourself. Submit the Customer Support form, choosing 'An issue with my account', then 'Update or change my personal details'.

Can I change my name the day before my PTE test?+

Not online: changes lock 24 hours before the test. Pearson asks for name mismatches to be reported at least three working days before.

I only have one name. What do I enter for PTE?+

Put your name in Given name(s) and type a full stop in Surname.

Can I update my PTE details after the test?+

Once your Score Report is available you can update your address, country of residence and phone number; other changes need the support form.
