Test rules and how to report your score
Duke has no preference among English tests and uses your highest score if you test more than once. Applicants can self-report PTE scores; Duke suggests official submission only for the Duolingo English Test, which is free to send. The page does not mention PTE Academic Online, PTE Core or a validity period.
On the same undergraduate list, the minimum IELTS band expected is 7, Duolingo 130 and TOEFL 100 (or 5.0 on the new scale). The Graduate School asks for IELTS Academic 7.0 or Duolingo 125.

If you fall short
Because the undergraduate test is optional, you can apply without an English score if your application already shows your English. Duke does not publish a conditional admission or pathway route on these pages. Graduate applicants with only a PTE score would need to take TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo instead.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Duke programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
