What IELTS score do you need for Gonzaga University?

Official scores must come directly from the testing agency or appear on the official high school transcript or School Report, and must be dated within two years of the application. Other routes are TOEIC 695, iTEP Academic Plus 4.5, ACT English and Reading 23, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 550, IB English A predicted 6, or a B in GCSE/IGCSE English. The checklist gives TOEFL 4 (B2) for tests after 21 January 2026 and notes that further new-scale requirements "will be published soon". See the first-year checklist.

Students from Australia, Belize, Botswana, Canada (except Quebec), Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, the UK and English-speaking Caribbean countries are exempt automatically. India and Pakistan are not on the list; Gonzaga invites native speakers from other English-speaking countries to request a waiver from the international admission counsellor.

The MSBA asks international applicants for TOEFL 80 (before January 2026) or 4.5 (from January 2026), or IELTS 6.5. If you fall short but believe your English is equivalent through work, education or immersion, you can contact your admissions specialist. Each foreign degree needs a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator. See the MSBA page. The online M.E. in Transmission and Distribution asks for TOEFL 88 or 4.5, or IELTS 6.5, but cannot issue an I-20 (engineering page).

Gonzaga Global places international master's students in tracks by GPA and English score: Graduate Direct at IELTS 6.5, the Advanced Master's Accelerator at 6.0 and the Master's Accelerator at 5.5. The MATESOL Advanced track sets no IELTS band below 5.5 and the Master's Accelerator none below 5.0.
