Where can I take IELTS or PTE in New York?

Pearson's test centre finder lists four Pearson Professional Centers in New York City: NY (Lexington Ave), NY (W 44th St), Brooklyn and Lake Success (Queens). Nearby it also lists White Plains, Lyndhurst NJ and Piscataway NJ. NY (W 44th St) is on GOV.UK's outside-UK list for PTE Academic UKVI.

Pearson's finder does not say which tests each centre runs on which day. When you book, choose the test first and then the city; only centres with slots for that test appear.

The IELTS fee is the one Oxford International Manhattan shows on its ielts.org page on 10 October 2026 (prices can change and may be subject to local tax). PTE prices are from Pearson's price finder with the United States selected. Refund and transfer rules are in our IELTS fee in the USA and PTE fee in the USA guides.

If you need a UK SELT while living in New York, GOV.UK's outside-UK list dated 2 October 2026 shows only three US entries for Pearson (New York W 44th St, Chicago and Pembroke Pines, Florida), one PSI centre in Queens and no IELTS SELT Consortium centre in the US. ielts.org marks Inlingua Washington DC as UKVI Approved, but it was not on GOV.UK's list that day, so check with GOV.UK before booking it for a visa. See our Toronto guide for Canada.

IELTS: book from the centre's page on the ielts.org finder. Bring the same identification document you used when you booked (test day).

PTE: choose the test, then New York, and pick a centre and slot (Pearson's booking guide). Pearson's ID policy asks for a valid passport; if you test outside your country of citizenship, a passport is the only accepted ID for PTE Academic.

Results: ielts.org says IELTS on computer results usually come in 1–2 days (results); Pearson says PTE results typically arrive within 2 days. Before you pay, try a free IELTS mock test or a free PTE mock test.
