How much is the IELTS exam fee in Hungary?

Registration is online only, and the British Council says you can pay only by debit or credit card online; an automated invoice is emailed after payment. You need a valid passport or, for EEA citizens, an EEA national ID card, and you upload a clear colour copy when you book. Non-EU citizens must also upload a copy of their visa. Under-18s must be registered by a parent or legal guardian (British Council).

The British Council recommends booking at least two months before the test date. Listening, Reading and Writing are on the published test day; you choose your Speaking slot when you book, and it can be the same day, up to 7 days before or 2 days after. Once your payment is credited you get access to the IELTS Ready Premium preparation platform.

Every British Council IELTS test in Hungary is in Budapest and on computer (dates, fees and locations). IELTS on paper, including IELTS for UKVI on paper, is offered only to test takers who need special arrangements, and a non-Hungarian who is not an EU, EEA or Swiss passport holder must prove Hungarian residence to sit a paper test. Results on computer take 1 to 5 days, IELTS Online 6 to 8 calendar days and Life Skills 9 days (results page). Up to five Test Report Form copies go to institutions free; each extra copy costs 5,000 Ft plus courier postage. One Skill Retake is available for IELTS and IELTS for UKVI on computer, once per test, within 60 days (One Skill Retake).

Under EU law you can cancel an online booking within a 14-day cooling-off period from your payment confirmation for a full refund. After that, the standard IELTS policy applies: cancel 15 or more days ahead for 75% back, or within 14 days for nothing. Transfers are free 15 or more days ahead and cost 25% between 5 and 14 days; under 5 days a transfer counts as a cancellation (British Council policy). Illness and other exceptional circumstances can be raised before the test or up to two calendar days after it.

IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow a separate policy: 75% back more than 14 days ahead, 50% within 14 days but more than two days ahead, 25% within two days, and nothing on or after test day. A UKVI booking can be transferred once, more than 14 days ahead, to a date within three months, for a fee of up to 25% (UKVI policy). Pearson lists a Hungarian price of USD 250 for PTE Academic, but its test centre list has no centre in Hungary, so a centre-based PTE means travelling to a neighbouring country.
