Paper, computer and IELTS for UKVI in Iraq
The British Council still describes paper-based IELTS in Baghdad, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Basrah, at USD 350, but only official residents can sit it. On 13 October 2026 its booking system flagged all six cities for computer-delivered sessions only, so check the format of the session you pick. Computer tests cost USD 325.
IELTS for UKVI is offered in Baghdad, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah (British Council UKVI page). IDP's four Iraq venues showed no bookable sessions online on 13 October 2026, and IDP also has a page for Al Hilla; contact the venue directly for dates.

How to choose a centre in Iraq
The British Council fee is the same in every city, so choose by date and distance. Its Speaking test can be on a different day from the written papers, within a 7-day window before or after, so allow for two trips if you travel from another governorate.
