How La Trobe sets English requirements
La Trobe's entry and language requirements page says it has minimum requirements for undergraduate, postgraduate and research study, and that course pages list the English level and accepted tests. Some courses need a higher level.
Examples read today on the international 2027 view (Bundoora) of two course pages: the Bachelor of Business needs IELTS 6.0 with no band below 6.0, and the Master of Information Technology needs 6.5 with no band below 6.0.

Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency is also accepted at matching levels, for example 176 with no component below 169 for IELTS 6.5. La Trobe notes that not all courses accept alternative tests and some set their own equivalencies, so check the course page.
If you have results from more than one test, only your most recent single result is considered. English evidence must be no older than two years unless stated otherwise. La Trobe's page does not say whether IELTS Online, One Skill Retake, TOEFL Home Edition, PTE Academic Online or Duolingo are accepted.
If you don't meet the requirement, La Trobe College Australia offers English language training before you start.
Requirements vary by course, and La Trobe can change them between intakes. Always confirm the score on your course page before you book a test. Your student visa has its own English rules, set by the Department of Home Affairs.
