What IELTS score do you need for Portland State University?

Graduate applicants, including US citizens and permanent residents, must show proficiency before enrolling in academic classes. Scores must be less than two years old at matriculation; older scores count only if they exceeded the minimum and you have lived in the US continuously since the exam. A bachelor's, master's or doctorate completed in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, the UK, the US or Zimbabwe meets the requirement; India is not on the list. The MA in English page, however, exempts degrees from an accredited non-US institution with instruction exclusively in English, so ask your department. Undergraduate and postbaccalaureate applicants need TOEFL 71 (or 4.0 on the new scale), IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 in Reading and Writing, PTE 53, Duolingo 110 or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 560, within the last two years; IELTS One Skill Retake scores are not accepted.
