What IELTS score do you need for the University of Utah?

The approved exams are TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo (plus ACT and SAT for first-year applicants, and TOEIC only for the Asia Campus). Test dates must fall within two years of submitting your application and paying the fee; expired scores are not used. TOEFL goes to code 4853. IELTS Indicator results are not accepted. India is not on Utah's citizenship exemption list, and the page says citizens of unlisted countries must prove proficiency even if their medium of instruction was English; English as a means of instruction alone is not accepted. A recent degree from a listed country or from a US institution does count, as do four or more semesters at a US regionally accredited college. Conditional admission is not stated by Utah.

First-year applicants can use Duolingo 110, TOEFL 80 (4.5 on the new scale), IELTS 6.5, ACT English 18, SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 510, or at least three years at a US high school with A and B grades in non-ESL English. IB and AP English scores and high school ESL courses do not count. Completing Level 8 at the University's English Language Institute with a B or better waives the requirement for undergraduates only.
