How do I make a complaint about PTE?

Use the complaints form on Pearson's policy centre, with your Registration ID if the complaint is about a specific test. Pearson aims to reply within 10 working days. Late scores and score disputes go through the Scoring help centre, rescores and appeals instead. Once Pearson's process is exhausted, PTE Academic and PTE Home complaints can go to Ofqual, the UK regulator.

What happens after you complain

Pearson passes the complaint to the team best placed to resolve it and contacts you, usually by email but sometimes by phone. It aims to respond within 10 working days, longer if you write by post. If it needs more time, it says it will update you after 10 days (Pearson).

For PTE Academic UKVI, a Secure English Language Test, you can also write to: Pearson PTE Complaints, 14 The Quays, Salford Quays, Manchester, M50 3BF.

Rescore, technical review and appeal rules are on Pearson's rescore policy and appeals policy pages.

Escalating to Ofqual

Pearson says PTE Academic and PTE Home are regulated by Ofqual. If you have made a formal complaint and are not satisfied with the outcome, you can complain to Ofqual, which only reviews cases where Pearson has already given an outcome (Pearson).

Ofqual looks at whether Pearson followed its published procedures. It cannot check the accuracy of a test result; that is only reviewed through Pearson's rescore and appeals processes.

Pearson updates its policies from time to time. Check the linked page before you act. This guide is general information, not official PTE advice.
