PTE test centres in Australia by state
The table counts every Australian entry in Pearson's centre list behind its test centers and fees finder, read on 10 October 2026. PPC means a Pearson Professional Center, run by Pearson itself; the others are universities, colleges and test companies. Pearson counts two rooms at one venue as two centres (Navitas Sydney and Melbourne Polytechnic Preston).

Regional options and choosing a centre
PTE reaches several places IELTS does not: Alice Springs, Ballarat, Geelong, Toowoomba and Joondalup all have a PTE centre but no IDP IELTS centre. If you live in regional Victoria or the Northern Territory, that can save a trip to a capital city.
The fee is the same everywhere, so choose on slots and travel. Pearson Professional Centers tend to run the most sessions in the capitals. When you book, pick the exact test first (PTE Academic for Australian visas) and then your area; only centres with slots for that test appear.

Book PTE Academic, not PTE Core or PTE Academic Online: Home Affairs accepts PTE Academic taken at a secure test centre and does not accept fully online tests (Home Affairs). Choose the test, then a centre and a slot at least 24 hours ahead, and pay in myPTE. Your account name must match your passport exactly, middle names in Given names; you can correct details up to 3 days before the test, and a mismatch on the day means no test and no refund (how to book). You can book a retake once your last scores arrive, up to 12 times in 12 months (retake policy).
