Indian and Nigerian applicants

Queen's India page accepts 70% in Standard XII English instead of IELTS for most bachelor's degrees (not Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy) and most postgraduate degrees, from the CBSE, CISCE, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal boards, taken within seven years and verified through Qualification Check.

For Nigeria, the main page lists WAEC English at C6 and accepts recognised Nigerian degrees taught and assessed in English, completed within five years. Queen's Nigeria page says it accepts WAEC or NECO and that it won't ask Nigerian students for proof of English, which differs from the main page, so confirm with admissions. Routes for Pakistan and Nepal are not stated by Queen's.

Pre-sessional English and the Student visa

Pre-sessional English is run by the Queen's University Belfast International Study Centre, which handles its own entry requirements. Queen's accepts a pass on its on-campus pre-sessional at 50% (40% in each component) for 6.0 courses and 60% for 6.5 courses, or the online course at 58% and 63% (53% in each). Course lengths are not stated on Queen's own pages. Some business master's, such as the MBA, also ask international applicants for a £1,000 deposit.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Queen's programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
