Redeemer minimum scores
Undergraduate scores come from Redeemer's international students page; the graduate scores from its graduate studies admissions page, which points to page 16 of the academic calendar for the TOEFL breakdown. The undergraduate list accepts PTE Online as well as PTE Academic.
| Level | IELTS Academic | TOEFL iBT | PTE Academic | Duolingo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate | 6.5 | 86 | 56 (PTE or PTE Online) | 110 |
| Master of Education | 7.0 | 100 | Not listed | Not listed |
Who does not need a test
Undergraduates are exempt if they attended secondary school full-time in an English-speaking country for at least three years, studied full-time for at least one year at an accredited English-medium university, or lived in an English-speaking country for at least four years immediately before applying. The university route names no country, so a year of full-time study at an accredited English-medium university in India, Pakistan or Nigeria reads as qualifying; confirm with your admissions counsellor before skipping the test.
Graduate applicants are exempt only with a degree from an accredited English-medium university in an English-speaking country, including at least two years of full-time study there. CAEL 70 is the other accepted test at both levels.

Fall intake, April deadline
Redeemer admits international students for fall only, and international applications close on 1 April of the entry year; a winter start needs an appeal to your admissions counsellor. The online application costs CAD 150. Transcripts go to WES for evaluation, and every applicant submits a statement of faith.
Study permit and PGWP: separate rules
Redeemer's scores decide admission only. Immigration is a separate set of tests: for the study permit see IELTS for a Canada study permit, and for whether a Post-Graduation Work Permit applies after your program and which test and level it needs, see IELTS for the Canada PGWP.
Minimum vs competitive score
Where Redeemer University publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
If you are close to the line, aim for a margin above it: one weak skill can miss the requirement even when the overall band clears it. Not sure where you stand? Take a free IELTS mock test and get a band for each skill.
