What IELTS score do you need for RIT?

RIT accepts Duolingo, IELTS Academic (Online and One Skill Retake included), LanguageCert Academic, PTE Academic and TOEFL iBT (Home Edition included), but not TOEFL MyBest, TOEFL Essentials or IELTS General. Self-reported scores are fine for applying; official reports are needed before your first term. The same MS Computer Science scores also appear on the Data Science, Cybersecurity and MBA pages, and students below a program's minimum may be considered for conditional admission.

A waiver may be considered if you worked or studied in the US for the last two years, or hold a degree from an English-medium university in a listed territory such as Australia, Canada, Kenya, Singapore or the UK. India is not on the list. Letters saying your courses were taught in English are not accepted in place of a test. See application instructions.

First-year applicants submit Duolingo, LanguageCert Academic (70), TOEFL, PTE Academic or IELTS. Direct admission needs IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 79 or 4.5, Duolingo 120 or PTE 58; lower scores fall in the conditional range, where English Language instruction comes before academic coursework.
