Test rules and how to send your score

Graduate applicants can self-report PTE Academic in the application or portal; official reports are required if admitted. Each graduate programme also expects balanced sub-scores when deciding whether you need extra English courses. Undergraduate scores can be self-reported, and official score reports should include RIT's institutional code 2760. The pages do not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core.

For comparison, undergraduate IELTS is 6.5 for direct admission, and both graduate programme pages list IELTS 6.5.

If you fall short

Undergraduates admitted in the conditional range must take English language instruction before starting academic coursework. Graduate students below their programme minimum may be considered for conditional admission.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your RIT programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
