What IELTS score does Sheridan College require?

For IELTS at both levels Sheridan writes "One Skill Retake is acceptable". Test results must be completed within two years (24 months) of the first day of classes, and some programs require more than the minimums, which Sheridan says can change with program demand.

The Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing accepts only Duolingo, IELTS and TOEFL. From 1 July 2026, all Pharmacy Technician applicants must meet the national pharmacy regulators' (NAPRA) language policy at admission; see that program's page.

Sheridan's EAP program counts at Level 5 with 70% in listening and speaking and in reading and writing for certificates and diplomas, or 75% for degrees, master's and graduate certificates. Two or more years of full-time English study at a recognized secondary school or college, or one year at a recognized university, can also meet the requirement.

Sheridan's scores decide admission only. IRCC sets no minimum English score for a study permit; any language condition is written into your letter of acceptance (see IELTS for a Canada study permit). The Post-Graduation Work Permit is a separate test again. IRCC's PGWP eligibility page asks graduates of college, polytechnic and other non-university programs for CLB 5 in all four skills, and anyone who graduated with a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree for CLB 7. On IELTS General Training, CLB 5 is Reading 4.0 and Writing, Listening and Speaking 5.0 (IRCC score table). The PGWP takes IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General or PTE Core, not IELTS Academic, and college programs also face a field-of-study rule if you applied for your study permit on or after 1 November 2024 (see IELTS for the PGWP).
