What PTE score do you need for SUNY New Paltz?

The graduate page notes that individual departments may require a different score. The page does not mention PTE Academic Online or PTE Core, a validity period or a Pearson code. A US degree earned more than three years before you apply does not replace a test score for graduate study.

IELTS on the same pages is 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for undergraduates, and 6.0, 7.0 and 6.5 for the three graduate groups. Unlike TOEFL and undergraduate IELTS, PTE has no per-skill floor.

Undergraduates who meet all other standards may be admitted without English proof on an Undergraduate Pathway I-20, then tested and placed into academic or ESL courses on arrival. Graduate applicants with marginal English take a placement exam and extra instruction, and PTE scores may be used to pre-place you in the highest pathway level.
