Test rules and how PTE compares with IELTS
The undergraduate table is headed "Official Test Score Reports Required for Admission". Graduate Studies does not recognise a medium of instruction letter as proof of English. Neither page mentions PTE Academic Online, PTE Core or a PTE validity period.
On the same pages, undergraduate IELTS is 5.5 and graduate IELTS is 6.0. Graduate TOEFL splits into 71 iBT (3.5 from 21 January 2026) and 79 iBT (4.0), which broadly matches the PTE 48 and 53 split, though the programme lists differ slightly between the two tests.

If you fall short
Tennessee Tech's international admissions section has a Conditional Admission page and a Center for ESL, but the score table does not set a PTE entry point for either. Graduate applicants can also meet the requirement with ELS Level 112 (not for Education).
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Tennessee Tech programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
