Unless exempt, graduate applicants need TOEFL iBT 73 (before 21 January 2026) or 4 (from that date), TOEFL paper 537, IELTS 6.0, PTE Academic 53, iTEP 3.5–3.9, Duolingo 100, English3 105, Cambridge C1 Advanced 175 or C2 Proficiency 180. You are exempt with a bachelor's from a US or Canadian institution, two years of English-taught study at a US or Canadian high school or college, SAT critical reading 600, ACT English 27, or other compelling evidence sent to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Citizens of listed English-official countries, such as Ghana, Ireland, Nigeria, New Zealand and the UK, are also exempt; India and Pakistan are not on that list.

Graduate applicants with a three-year bachelor's need the credential evaluation agency to find it equivalent to a US bachelor's. TAMU-CC requires a course-by-course evaluation from an approved agency, except for the MS Computer Science, MS Geospatial Systems Engineering and PhD Geospatial Computer Science.

Undergraduates meet the same IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 73 and PTE 53 bars, or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 550, ACT English 21, or four years at a US high school.
