When you get your TOEFL scores
At the end of the test you can view unofficial Reading and Listening scores and the date your official scores are due; official scores can differ after ETS's statistical checks (bulletin). Official scores are in your ETS account 3 days after the test, with an email to tell you (ETS).
| What | When | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Unofficial Reading and Listening scores | On screen at the end of the test | bulletin |
| Official scores in your ETS account | About 3 days after the test | ETS |
| TOEFL iBT Australia scores | About 4–8 days after the test | bulletin |
| PDF score report to download | 24–48 hours after scores appear | ETS |
| Paper score report (if requested before the test) | Mailed 11–15 days after the test | ETS |
| Express-shipped paper report (75 countries and territories, fee applies) | Usually 2–5 business days after scores are confirmed | ETS |
How long universities take to receive your scores
Your fee includes up to four official score reports to institutions or agencies you choose before the test; the bulletin lets you add, delete or change them until 10 p.m. local test-centre time on the day before your test (bulletin). Delivery time depends on how the recipient receives scores (ETS):
| Delivery method | Approximate time |
|---|---|
| ETS Data Manager | 4–8 business days |
| Server feeds | 8–10 business days |
| Postal mail | 10–12 business days plus mailing time (7–10 more days in the US, 4–6 weeks elsewhere) |

Extra reports, score reviews and cancelled scores
After test day each additional score report is listed at US$29 on ETS's fee page, while its score-sending page still says US$25 (fees) (sending scores). Orders cannot be changed or refunded once placed (bulletin).
You can ask for a review of your Speaking and/or Writing section up to 30 days after the test, for a fee (US$80 for one section, US$160 for both), but not if you have already sent your scores to any institution. If the score is confirmed you hear within 3 weeks; a changed score, up or down, becomes official. Scores you cancelled at the end of the test can be reinstated within 60 days for a fee and reach you about 3 weeks later (bulletin) (fees).
Scores stay valid for 2 years and ETS will not send them after that (TOEFL score validity). Score reports also show your MyBest scores, though many universities, such as Harvard Griffin GSAS and Georgia Tech, do not accept them (Harvard) (Georgia Tech).
