Indian, Nepali and Nigerian school English

Chester's India page asks for 75% in 12th standard English across all boards, but not from NIOS or vocational boards. It then says it does not accept 12th standard English from eight states, "both State and Central boards", and in the next sentence that it accepts CBSE and ICSE only from those states. The two lines conflict, so confirm with admissions.

Chester's Nepal page accepts school English only with English-medium schooling throughout and a pre-screening interview before a conditional offer. School-English routes for Pakistan and Bangladesh are not stated by Chester, and the Bangladesh page names five universities whose qualifications it does not accept at any level. Medium of instruction letters are not stated.

Deposit, pre-CAS checks, pre-sessional and the Student visa

Chester's payment page asks for a £5,000 deposit, which can be paid as £1,500 first and £3,500 by your deposit deadline. Its CAS page lists a pre-CAS questionnaire or genuine intention interview, not applicable to low-risk nationals. Its important dates page closes January 2027 master's applications, including the MBA and Advanced Computer Science MSc, on 19 October 2026, with the deposit due by 2 November.

Chester's pre-sessional courses are all online and accept any equivalent English test. In summer 2026 they ran 13 weeks (£3,350, from IELTS 4.5 for undergraduate or 5.0 for postgraduate entry), 9 weeks (£2,600, from 5.0 or 5.5) and 5 weeks (£1,700, from 5.5 or 6.0). Later dates are not yet published.

For a Student visa, UK Visas and Immigration asks for English at CEFR B2 for degree-level study and B1 below degree level, per gov.uk. At degree level, gov.uk adds, your university can assess your English itself and may ask you to take a different test.

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Chester programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
