Graduate: IELTS 6.5 or the ELI route
UF accepts TOEFL iBT (Home Edition included), IELTS Academic or a UF English Language Institute (ELI) exit certificate, and does not combine scores from multiple tests. The catalog lists TOEFL 80, with 4.5 overall and 4.0 in each section effective Spring 2027; the admissions page already shows 4.5. Programs requiring the GRE also need Verbal 140.
Departments may grant exemptions for a degree or one year of study in the US, in a listed country such as Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka or the UK, or at a non-US institution where English is the only official language of instruction. India is not on the list. Students with no, low or expired scores can be admitted conditionally on enrolling in the ELI. See the catalog.

UF's freshman international page lists no English test. Under Florida Board of Governors regulation, every first-year applicant must submit an ACT, CLT or SAT score. See the freshman international page.
International transfer applicants show proficiency through a year of degree study in the US or a country where English is the only official language, or by examination: TOEFL iBT 80, TOEFL paper 550 or IELTS Academic 6.0. Scores are valid for two years, and India is not on the exempt list. See the transfer page.
Student visa and next steps
The US F-1 student visa sets no English test score of its own. What counts is the requirement the University of Florida sets for admission, which leads to your Form I-20. For the wider picture of studying in the US with each test, see IELTS for the USA and PTE for the USA.
Requirements change between admission cycles. Check the UF graduate international admissions page again before you book a test, and check your own program page, which can set a higher bar.

Neither is listed. UF's graduate options are TOEFL, IELTS Academic or a UF English Language Institute exit certificate.
