Test rules at Kent

Kent lists Pearson PTE Academic among its approved non-SELT tests, which it describes as tests available at a wider range of locations or taken online and accepted for academic study. The page does not name PTE Academic UKVI in its SELT list or say whether PTE Academic Online is accepted.

Applicants from Pakistan are an exception: after feedback from UKVI, Kent requires them to take an English test in person at an authorised test centre, with IELTS Academic or IELTS for UKVI (not online), TOEFL or Pearson listed. The page gives no Pearson institution code.

If your PTE score falls short

Kent runs pre-sessional English courses in person and online for students who do not meet the requirement, and says it strongly encourages applicants who have sat a test more than once to apply for one.

For a Student visa, gov.uk asks for English at CEFR B2 for study at degree level or above and B1 below degree level, and says a university can assess degree-level applicants' English itself and may ask for a different test (gov.uk).

Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Kent programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
