Validity, sending, teaching roles and the IELTS comparison
The Graduate School says scores are valid for two years beyond the test date and must still be valid at the start of your entry term. When you register for the test, choose "University of Missouri (Mizzou) – Graduate School Admissions" to share results. If your programme offers you a teaching assistantship or graduate instructorship, you must go through extra English evaluation by the TAILS programme after admission, which affects whether you can teach.
Undergraduates must take the English Language Support Program placement exams (ACCUPLACER ESL and WritePlacer ESL) even with a qualifying Duolingo score. The Schools of Journalism and Nursing want a result no older than two years. Mizzou does not accept IELTS Online.
For comparison, the same pages set IELTS at 6.5 with no section below 6 for undergraduates and 6.5 with 6 in each section for the Graduate School.

If your Duolingo score falls short
Academic Integration @ Mizzou (AIM) takes first-year students who are ready for academic work but miss the Duolingo, TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge or PTE minimum. It combines English Language Support Program courses with selected academic courses. Placement results may also put admitted students into ELSP courses, which must be passed within the first two semesters.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your Mizzou programme page and in your offer letter, so check it there before you book a test.
