Exemptions and support
Master's students satisfy the English requirement if their first degree was taught in English, so an English-medium bachelor's from India, Pakistan or Nigeria covers a UNIC master's. The medical school exempts only native English speakers from the UK, Ireland, the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Undergraduates below the listed grades who hold IELTS 4.5 or above take UNIC's English Placement Test and receive English support classes as needed. PTE and Duolingo are not on UNIC's tables. Programmes taught in Greek have no English requirement, and non-EU students must also meet the English rules of the Cypriot ministries for a residence permit. Studies start in September or February.
Requirements vary by programme and change between admissions cycles. The score that binds you is the one on your UNIC programme page and in your offer, so check it there before you book a test.

Minimum vs competitive score
Where the University of Nicosia publishes an IELTS score, it is the minimum: the floor an application has to meet to be considered, not a score that guarantees an offer.
Competitive programmes, and courses with far more applicants than places, may expect more than the minimum, and some departments set their own overall or per-skill scores, often for writing or speaking. The course page has the final word, so check it before you book a test.
